Looking
for a real Alaskan adventure in Ketchikan, but still need time to
shop or catch a show? We offer a two and a half hour, self-piloted,
zodiac tour designed for those on a tight schedule or who may be
a little reluctant to devote four hours to one excursion.
This
expedition-style trip stays within ten miles of town, but anyone
who has been to Ketchikan knows that the distance to wildlife and
wilderness can be measured by feet and meters. We'll get you geared
up with all the necessary clothing and accessories . . . rain suites,
wool hats, wool gloves, rubber boots, pfd's, binoculars, and protective
eyewear. You'll watch our brief instructional/safety video, and
then cross the street to meet your expert wilderness guide and board
your boat. From there just follow the guide boat to extraordinary
places and sights.
Your
guide will offer a treasure of historical, cultural, ecological,
zoological, and geological information throughout the natural and
spontaneous flow of your time on the water by rafting up for brief
talks at various points of interest or using the radios equipped
on each boat. You'll search for bear, eagles, whales, otters, seals,
sea lions, various waterfowl, deer, spawning salmon and much more.
Your
guide may also take you to authentic totem poles viewed from the
water at Saxman Native Village, or maybe a scenic cruise through
nostalgic Thomas Basin and historic Creek Street . . . the red light
district of Ketchikan's colorful past. This empowering excursion
offers big adventure, great fun, lots of sights, interesting information,
camaraderie, amazing photo opts, escape from crowds, and memories
of America's last frontier that will never be forgotten . . . all
in two and a half hours!
