Ketchikan
has something special to offer the entire family. As you explore
the historical downtown area will you will find an abundance of
interesting and educational things to see and do. Drop by the Ketchikan
Visitors Bureau at the cruise ship dock and You may decide to go
zip-lining, catch a lumberjack show, ride the dune buggies, hike
Deer Mountain, scuba dive, visit the Saxman Village, charter a floatplane,
take a Duck tour, ride the horse drawn trolley, and so much more!
During
the summer season salmon can be seen in huge schools fighting their
way up Ketchikan Creek to spawn. And while you’re strolling down
nostalgic Creek Street, our historic red-light district, it’s hard
not to imagine the fortune-seeking miners, rambunctious loggers,
boastful fishermen, burly tradesmen, enterprising entrepreneurs
and professional ladies making the very best of what this vibrant
young city had to offer in days of old.
The streets of downtown are teeming with shops, restaurants, museums
and bars. Be pampered at one of the local spas, or ramble into Fat
Stan’s and sample some Alaskan beer (mention Tab or Sarah sent you,
and get a free Alaskan Brewery glass). And don’t miss the grilled
halibut sandwich at the Alaska Fish House. There’s also a movie
theater that has the latest in box office releases.
